Entity Framework :Microsoft’s recommended data access technology for .Net applicationFeb 25, 2015
Microsoft's already provide a scalable and robust technology called ADO.NET for accessing data from relational databases like SQL Server and Oracle . ADO.NET is very powerful tool to be used with .Net Framework applications . Data access technology plays very important role while interacting and developing some of the advanced and higher level applications for accessing data from multiple sources . With the release of new technologies in .Net Framework , Microsoft recommended Entity Framework to be best data access technology for such applications . EF avoids writing lengthy code for performing CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations to the relational databases. The first version of Entity Framework (EFv1) was included with .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1, released on 11 August 2008 Entity Framework is actively developed by the Entity Framework team which is assigned to the Microsoft Open Tech Hub and in collaboration with a community of open source developers. Because the Entity Framework is a component of the .NET Framework, Entity Framework applications can run on any computer on which the .NET Framework (starting with version 3.5 SP1) is installed. Overall EF provides the opportunity for developers to code smartly and easily for performing CRUD operations by .Net latest applications and new languages towards relational databases . EF is available for .NET IDE like Visual Studio that can be added from NuGet package Manager which will add the references and libraries required for EF Code.
